Pushing images from PACS into SurgimapWarning: Any PACS system connection with Surgimap must be on a computer/devicewith a static IP address. Most hospital PACS are configured to only send DICOM imagesto hospital computers.1. Extensions suchas Win or MAC help if the user has multiple computers.Port Number & IP Address: Your computer’s personal IP Address can be foundwithin the Surgimap software:a. Open Surgimapb. Click on your “Settings” iconc. Toggle over to “DICOM Nodes”d. Find your Port Number (unless another port number is specified, use ‘12346’)and static IP Address (top of the list, ex: xx.x.x.xx). 2. CONTACT YOUR HOSPITALS PACS ADMINISTRATOR WITH INFORMATION IN STEP #1 Contact your PACS administrator and supply them the information from step #1. Pleasehave PACS administrator create this node for you and send confirmation once the nodehas been added.Note: Make sure they inform you of your personal AE Title or use your recommendation.3. USE YOUR AE TITLE TO CONNECT WITH PACS Follow steps a-c in step #1 above to get to DICOM Nodes tab. Under “Local AE Title List” press the ‘Add’ button.xx.x.x.xx Enter the AE Title provided to you by your PACS administrator in the dialogue box andpress “OK”. It will now appear in your ‘Local AE Title List’ box.4. RESTART SURGIMAP AND YOU ARE NOW READY TO EXPORT YOUR IMAGES FROM PACSINTO THE SURGIMAP DATABASE4

Pulling images into Surgimap from PACSWarning: Any PACS system connection with Surgimap must be on a computer/devicewith a static IP address. 4. CREATE A NODE IN SURGIMAPNote: For this step, you will need to consult your PACS administrator to receive thehospital PACS static IP address, PACS AE Title, & PACS Port. Please use the following steps to create a node within Surgimap:a. Open Surgimapb. Click on your “Settings” iconc. Toggle over to “DICOM Nodes”d. Click on “Add new node”e. Enter the following information into the ‘Node parameters’ dialogue box andpress “OK” (Note: Most of this information will begiven to you by your PACS admin): IP Address that you received from your PACSadministrator (not your computer IPaddress) AE Title: Use the AE Title provided by yourPACS Admin, if they do not provide you withone type in the default ‘SURGIMAP’. (This isDIFFERENT than your Local AE Title) Port Number (the default value is ‘12346’,please type this in as the ‘Port Number’ unlesstold otherwise) ‘Source Name’ to locate the node in theImport screen finder/file tree Local AE Title select the one you added in Step 3 above7

f.You will now see the information you added in the ‘Node parameters’ dialoguebox under ‘DICOM Nodes’xx.x.x.xx5. YOU CAN NOW SEE THE NODE UNDER THE IMPORT TAB & CAN BEGIN IMPORTINGDICOMS AFTER YOU RESTART SURGIMAP8

Importing DICOMS after connection is established1. GO TO YOUR IMPORT SCREEN AND LOCATE THE ‘SOURCE NAME’ OF YOUR CONNECTEDPACS SYSTEM (E.G. DCM4CHEE)SourceName2. SELECT A VARIABLE FROM THE DROP-DOWN SELECTOR TO SEARCH FOR PATIENTIMAGES . ENTER INFORMATION IN THE SEARCH FIELD & CLICK THE ‘SEARCH’ BUTTON.3. ONCE RESULTS ARE DISPLAYED IN THE IMPORT PANEL, CLICK TO HIGHLIGHT THEPATIENT, STUDIES , OR SERIES YOU WISH TO IMPORT AND CLICK THE ‘IMPORT’BUTTON. You can also right click or double-finger click (Mac) on a row and click ‘Import’9

4. CLICKING ‘IMPORT’ WILL QUEUE THE DATA TRANSFER . YOU WILL SEE THE PROGRESS OFYOUR IMPORT SELECTION ON THE ‘PROGRESS COLUMN ’.Note: If your ‘Progress’ bar is stuck on ‘queued’ and does not finish the import (nogreen checkmark), this means there may be a problem with the PACS/Surgimapconnection setup. Please go back and double-check all the settings you created.10

Using PACS link through VPN connectionWhen connecting to the hospital PACS using a VPN connection, you will need to make sure thatthe user picks up the same static IP address as assigned. Please note, this configuration is on aWindows Domain based server.1. Hospital IT Admin creates a NEW GROUP IN ACTIVE DIRECTORY SUCH ASVPNUSER1 AND ADD YOUR ACTIVE DIRECTORY USER(S) TO THAT GROUP .2. OPEN THE RRAS CONSOLE, RIGHT CLICK ON REMOTE ACCESS LOGGING &POLICIES AND CHOOSE LAUNCH NPS.3. IN THE NETWORK POLICY SERVER CONSOLE, RIGHT-CLICK ON NETWORKPOLICIES, AND SELECT NEW11

4. NAME THE POLICY , SELECT REMOTE ACCESS SERVER (VPN-DIAL UP) IN THEDROP DOWN LIST , AND THEN NEXT .5. UNDER CONDITIONS , CLICK ADD, SELECT USER GROUPS, AND ADD.6. CLICK THE ADD GROUPS ‘BUTTON” AND LOCATE YOUR GROUP USING THEOBJECT TYPE (GROUPS), LOCATIONS (YOUR DOMAIN SERVER ), ADVANCED,AND FIND NOW “BUTTONS ”.12

7. IN THE SPECIFY ACCESS PERMISSIONS WINDOW , SELECT ACCESS GRANTEDAND NEXT.8. ACCEPT ALL DEFAULTS IN THE FOLLOWING TWO WINDOWS; CONFIGUREAUTHENTICATION METHODS, CONFIGURE CONSTRAINTS.9. UNDER CONFIGURE SETTINGS CHOOSE IP SETTINGS, THEN ASSIGN A STATICIPV4 ADDRESS, AND INSERT YOUR CHOSEN STATIC IP (SAME ONE AS IN THESURGIMAP PACS CONFIGURATION). THIS MUST OF COURSE BE PART OF YOURLAN SUBNET.13

10.UNDER THE COMPLETING NEW NETWORK POLICY CLICK FINISH.15

11. NOW YOU CAN CONFIGURE YOUR STATIC IP ADDRESS IN THE ADDED ADUSER DIAL-IN TAB IN ACTIVE DIRECTORY USERS AND COMPUTERS.16

Connecting to PACS for multiple Surgimap accounts on asingle computerWhen connecting to PACS on a single Windows or MAC based computer for multiple Surgimapuser accounts to go on to, input the following parameters to the SETTINGS.ini file located withthe rest of the software contents.Please note this addition to the SETTINGS.INI needs to be at the start of the file while the lastline item needs to be underneath the [APPLICATION] section. If you want to add, for instance, 3different DICOM nodes with the following parameters:DICOM Node #1IP address: 1.1.1.1AE Title: AETITLE1Port: 11112Name: PACSNODE1DICOM Node #2IP address: 2.2.2.2AE Title: AETITLE2Port: 21112Name: PACSNODE2DICOM Node #3IP address: 3.3.3.3AE Title: AETITLE3Port: 31112Name: PACSNODE3And would like to use two different SCP AETitles, SURGIMAP1 for the first node and SURGIMAP2for the second and third nodes.17

To do this, navigateto: WINDOWS – OPEN THE CONTROL PANEL & LOCATE THE FOLDER OPTIONS.SELECT THE RADIO BUTTON “SHOW HIDDEN FILES, FOLDERS AND DRIVES ” MAC – LAUNCH TERMINAL AND TYPE IN “DEFAULTS WRITECOM.APPLE.FINDER APPLESHOWALLFILES YES – BOOLEAN TRUE;” HOLDTHE “OPTION/ALT” KEY, THEN RIGHT CLICK ON THE FINDER ICON IN THE CLICKRELAUNCH.18
