A H C H P R O G R A M & S E RV I C E ST H A N K S TO YO UAHCH provides critical services that address the health-related causes and consequencesof homelessness. From 2008 through 2010, AHCH reached over 7,500 men, women,and children each year. Outreach and site-based programs include: primary medical, dental, and specialty care; Con Niños medical/social outreach treatment team for homeless children and their families; harm reduction street outreach, including syringe exchange, auricular acupuncture detox, overdoseprevention and training on administration of Naloxone, and a peer education/prevention project; social and behavioral health continuum; drop-in center & social services (comprehensive case management, social work and client advocacy) Re-Entry Collaborative Project (REC), Suboxone treatment for individuals addicted to opiates,recently released from jail/prison and experiencing homelessness; Housing placement and assistance via 50-70 Shelter Care unit subsidies each year, in addition tohousing assistance and placement in other private market and subsidized housing units; Integrated behavioral health program, including counseling and therapy & brief interventions; ArtStreet, a free community-based arts and art therapy studio project.With your help, as part of strategic planning processes, Albuquerque Health Care for theHomeless has refined its business strategy. As a nonprofit organization serving peopleexperiencing homelessness in our community, we now have outreach teams conductingmore strategic and targeted outreaches. Shelter based outreaches ensure that women,perseverance volunteer giving suppor t community solutions innovative courage transformationchildren, youth and families, have access to essential primary care services, where and whenneeded. A mixture of motel, street, and roving outreach ensures that harm reduction, diseaseprevention, intervention, and follow-up services are widely available. Outreach employees,along with community volunteers, are making significant impact in accessible health care.

As president of the board of directors during 2008-2010, I am pleased topresent this bi-annual report in recognition of the generous and dedicated donors whohave helped make comprehensive, effective, and quality care available to people whoare homeless.Albuquerque Health Care for the Homeless: twenty-five years in the making. In 1985,the original Health Care for the Homeless demonstration projects began operating in19 cities across the country. Albuquerque was one of those cities.Thanks to the individual commitment and ongoing support of donors, volunteers, staffand the leadership of those who have exited homelessness, Albuquerque Health Care forthe Homeless has been a presence in our community and has helped countless peopleget well and exit homelessness.In developing this report, we personally interviewed you, our donors and volunteers,to find out how, in your own words, you would describe our mission. We also asked“What compels you to support Albuquerque Health Care for the Homeless?” Finally,we spoke with a volunteer to see how we are doing in engaging you in the important workof ending homelessness.
