Viega ProPress includes Smart Connect technology, providing quick andeasy identification of unpressed connections during the pressure testing process.Smart Connect technology is an integral part of the design of the fitting thatprovides a path for liquids and/or gases from inside the system past the sealingelement of an unpressed connection. When pressed according to our ProductInstructions, the fluid path isaltered, creating a leak-proof,reliable connection. UnpressedAirconnections are located bypressurizing the system withWaterair or water. When testing withwater the proper pressure rangeis 15 to 85 psi. Pressure testingwith air can be dangerous athigh pressures. For use with type K or L copper tubing, drawn copperfrom ½" to 2", and annealed copper from ½" to 1¼".All copper must be in compliance with ASTM B-88. The fittings are for use with fuel gases only and are intendedfor operating pressure specified (maximum 125 psi). Undue stress or strain on the fittings and the tubing isto be avoided. Concealed tubing and fittings shall be protected frompuncture threats. If the installation requires components in additionto those supplied by the fitting manufacturer, thosecomponents shall be specified. The instructions shallstate that only the components provided or specifiedby the manufacturer are to be used in the installation. The fitting/tubing system shall not be used as agrounding electrode for an electrical system. This sealingelement is used mainly in the applications ofpotable water, hydronic heating, low-pressuresteam, fire sprinkler and compressed airinstallations.HNBR Sealing ElementProPressG press fittings are manufactured with ahigh-quality HNBR sealing element installed at thefactory. This sealing element is used mainly forapplications of natural, propane, mixed andmanufactured gases in the vapor state, not in theliquid state. It possesses excellent resistance toaging, ozone, sunlight, weathering, environmentalinfluences, alkalis and most alkaline solutions andchemicals used in a broad range of applications.HNBR is widely known for its physical strengthand retention of properties after long-termexposure to heat, oil and chemicals.The unique properties attributed to HNBR haveresulted in wide adoption of HNBR in automotive,industrial and assorted performance-demandingapplications (i.e. engine seals, grommets andgaskets; fuel system seals and hoses; transmissionsystem bonded piston seals; Chevron seals, oil fieldpackers and rotary shaft seals).The EPDM sealing element has particularly goodresistance to hot water, making it ideal for sealsand gaskets in heating systems, fittings andhousehold appliances (e.g. washing machines,pumps, dishwashers).With its excellent performance for the mostdemanding of applications, HNBR is the ideal choicefor applications needing excellent physicalproperties as well as oil, heat and/or chemicalresistance.
