Thewinning Psi Chi chapter officer receives: (1) a 500 cash award,(2) travel expenses for the chapter president to attend and make ashort presentation at the APA/Psi Chi Society Annual Conventionto receive the award, and (3) an engraved plaque commemoratingthe award.Allyn & Bacon Awards May 1The Allyn & Bacon Psychology Awards, cosponsored by Allyn &Bacon Publishers, are open to all undergraduate Psi Chi membersand are awarded to those who submit the best overall empiricalresearch papers. The awards are 1,000 for first place, 650 forsecond place, and 350 for third place.Guilford Awards May 1All Psi Chi undergraduate members are eligible to submit theirresearch for the J. P. Guilford Undergraduate Research Awards.Cash awards are 1,000 for first place, 650 for second place, and 350 for third place.Diversity Article Awards July 1Four awards of 300 each are available for the best Eye on Psi Chiarticles published by student authors on diversity issues, includingbut not limited to ethnic minority, GLBT, gender, and physicaldisability. Each grantrecipient will receive 3,000.Bandura Award February 1All psychology graduate students who are Psi Chi members andgraduate student affiliates of the Association for PsychologicalScience (APS) are eligible to submit their research for the AlbertBandura Graduate Research Award. The winner receives thefollowing: (1) travel expenses to attend the APS NationalConvention to receive the award, (2) a three-year membership inAPS, including subscriptions to all APS journals, and (3) twoengraved plaques, one for the winner and one for the winner’spsychology department as a permanent honor to the winner.This award is presented during the APS opening ceremony at theAPS National Convention.Newman Award February 1All psychology graduate students are eligible to submit theirresearch for the Edwin B. Newman Graduate Research Award.The winner receives the following: (1) travel expenses to attendthe APA/Psi Chi Society Convention to receive the award,(2) a three-year subscription to an APA journal of the winner’schoice, and (3) two engraved plaques, one for the winner andone for the winner’s psychology department as a permanent honorto the winner. This award is presented during the APA/APFAwards ceremony at the annual APA/Psi Chi Society Conventionin August.Kay Wilson Leadership Award April 1The Kay Wilson Leadership Award for Outstanding ChapterPresidents is presented annually to the one chapter presidentwho demonstrates excellence in leadership of the local chapter.The winning Psi Chi chapter officer receives: (1) a 500 cashaward, (2) travel expenses for the chapter president to attend andmake a short presentation at the APA/Psi Chi Society AnnualConvention to receive the award, and (3) an engraved plaquecommemorating the award.APAGS/Psi Chi Junior Scientist Fellowships June 30The intent is two-fold: to provide funding for 1st-year or 2nd-yeargraduate research projects and to provide constructive feedback toapplicants for preparation of a successful National ScienceFoundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship application.Funds must be used for the direct costs of 1st or 2nd-yearpsychological science projects. The award is intendedto recognize Psi Chi faculty advisors for their outstanding serviceto the chapter and to Psi Chi.Kay Wilson Officer Team Leadership Award December 1To award the best chapter officer team for exceptional leadershipas a group. One award of 2,000 is available annually. The chapterretains 1,000 of the award and the faculty advisor divide theremaining 1,000 among the officers.Regional Chapter Awards December 1The Regional Chapter Awards provide annual recognition for onechapter in each region that best achieves Psi Chi’s purpose. Eachwinning chapter receives a check for 500 and a plaque to displayin the winning chapter’s department. The awards are intended toperpetuate the chapters, to identify chapters as role models forothers, and to promote the purposes of Psi Chi.Regional Faculty Advisor Awards December 1This award is presented annually to one Psi Chi faculty advisorfrom each region who best achieves Psi Chi’s purpose. The awardis to recognize and reward actively involved chapter advisors.The winning faculty advisor from each region will receive 500and a plaque.Collaboration Grants January 20 & June 1In order to encourage collaborative and cooperative activitiesand projects between Psi Beta and Psi Chi chapters, this granthas been established to help collaborating chapters achieve theirgoals with support from both societies. This grant program willprovide seed funding for up to four collaborating chapter pairs.All applicants for the Collaboration Grant will automatically beentered in the Building Bonds Award competition.Cousins Chapter Award February 1The Ruth Hubbard Cousins Chapter Award is presentedannually to the one chapter that best achieves Psi Chi’s purpose.The winning chapter receives (1) a check for 3,500, (2) travelexpenses for one chapter officer to attend the APA/Psi ChiSociety Annual Convention to receive the award, and (3) a plaqueto display in the winning chapter’s department.Building Bonds Award June 1The purpose of the Alberta Johnson/Ruth Cousins BuildingBonds Collaboration Award is to recognize and formallyacknowledge the efforts and outcomes of both a Psi Betaand a Psi Chi chapter, which through collaboration, have asignificant impact at the local, state, regional, or national levels.The collaborative efforts may focus on scholarship, leadershipresearch, and/or community service.Faculty Advisor Research Grants June 1All current faculty advisors and coadvisors who have served anactive Psi Chi chapter for at least one year are eligible to applyfor these faculty advisor research grants. The purpose of thisprogram is to provide funds for advisors to defray the directcosts of conducting a research project (no stipends included).Twelve grants of up to 2,000 are available annually.STP Assessment Resource Grants June 1All Psi Chi faculty members are eligible for these grants, whichsupport projects to develop assessment tests, instruments, andprocesses. Psi Chi will award three 2,000 grants.Model Chapter Awards June 30Model Chapter Awards of 100 each are presented annually torecognize and reward Psi Chi chapters that consistently maintainoutstanding records of membership inductions, chaptercorrespondence, service projects, and other criteria associatedwith being an outstanding chapter.
