The effects ofpitting, scaling, deposits or bacteria can also be analyzed.The Roxar Retractable Weight Loss Coupons and Holders have the following features: Provides information on localized corrosion and the ability to quantify the pitting rate.Operates at pressures up to 1500 psi/103 bar and temperatures up to 399 F/ 260 C.Validates information provided by the ER probes.Ensures lower maintenance costs.Available in different lengths to fit various pipe sizes.
Roxar Retractable Weight Loss Coupons and HoldersJanuary 2019Operating principleThe Roxar Retractable Weight loss Coupons and Holders consists of a weighed sample of metal (coupon) that is exposed toprocess, and removed after a defined time interval. The defined time interval is usually 90 days. Upon retrieval, the coupon iscleaned and weighed again. The difference between the initial weight and final weight, the exposure period, and the surface area ofthe coupon are used to calculate the corrosion rate.The coupons are used to evaluate corrosiveness of the system, monitor the effectiveness of corrosion mitigation programs, andtune process conditions. This allows the coupon results to be linked to corrosiveness of the system, and not to absolute metal losson the pipe.NoteEmerson recommends the use of Roxar Retractable Tools in order to ensure controlled installation and retrieval of probes andcoupons.Figure 1 shows the dimensions for the Roxar Retractable Weight Loss Coupons and Holders.
