An outstanding organization serving the communityThe Sealy Pregnancy Resource Center came to exist through the hard workand dedication of Patricia Penner, Executive Director of the center. Patriciashared with the Chamber the road thatled her to opening such a need entity inour community. Patricia volunteeredfor 10 years at Houston Pregnancy HelpCenter in both their Fifth Ward andtheir Downtown centers. She and herhusband moved to Sealy in 2014. Thatsame year she retired from BP duringthe down-turn of the Oil & Gas Industry. Her husband encouraged her to seewhere God wanted her to be instead ofreturning to Oil & Gas. She began working on developing the structure of thecenter in 2014. Lifebridge CommunityChurch offered Patricia a home for theCenter and congregation voted to buildout their game room to house the center. The Sealy Pregnancy Center openedtheir doors in February 2016!As the Executive Director if thecenter, Patricia is very busy! She said “Ihave never seen God work in so manyamazing, wonderful ways as I have seenhere. Organizations, churches, andpeople in the community come together in supporting these young ladies andyoung men. It’s a lot to juggle, but whatI have learned is that everyone has theirrole and journey. The key is to utilizetheir varied talents in this ministry.”The Center is in continual need ofwipes, diapers, and toiletry items suchas baby shampoo, baby wash, formula, baby food, etc. Patricia is in the processof developing a Diaper Bank. The SealyCommunity does not qualify to utilizethe one in Houston. Therefore, she islooking at starting one here for the SealyThe outside of the new facility coming soon!community. The center has grown sotremendously through the past six yearsthat they have run out of space in ourcurrent facility and are in the processof building a larger facility to see moreyoung ladies in a given time period. The Center will be able to offer moreprograms to help these young ladies. The Sealy Pregnancy Resource Centeris also in need of financial support toget the building completed and will alsoneed more volunteers to work with theyoung ladies. One of the greatest challenges theCenter has is transportation. Transportation to and from some of the ruralcommunities is an issue and eventually, they will need to figure out how to support those who do not have the meansto get to them: either by having a van,979-256-4304GoBVS.comlicense # TACLA011315E 50 OFF any HVAC, Plumbing orElectrical Service of 250 or More! The baby store where moms and dads had theopportunity to spend their “Momma Bucks”.The new facility with studs dividing out the differentrooms and offices.working more closely with ColoradoValley Transit, or more home visits.
