Conference GoalsThe EuroMed Academy of Business annual conference is one of the major BusinessManagement conferences of its kind in terms of size, quality of content, and standingreputation of attendees. Many of the papers presented contribute significantly to thebusiness knowledge base.Our goal is to create a friendly and approachable academy and environment, a strongnetwork, whereby its members (including senior worldwide scholars, young facultymembers, doctorate students, researchers, and business practitioners) are guiding andmentoring each other. Further, participants attend the conference’s Research ProjectWorkshop to meet, improve research, collaborate with others, and apply for EU projectfunding. Due to its role in reducing the environmental impact in agri-food supply chains,and thanks to its market appreciation, organic agriculture represents an ideal arena for experimenting the adoption ofsustainable innovations. Among the numerous challenges, organic supply chain is called to face the limits of distributiontechnologies that are often responsible of food waste and plastic waste (Hemmerling et al., 2015). As for the plasticwaste, a sustainable solution comes from the bioplastics. Bioplastic may face at least two main concerns, namely 1.Improving shelf-life of fresh products, and 2. Reducing the use of fossil-origin plastic. Current special issue proposal ismeant to collect original papers tackling plastic waste issue in organic supply chains.8
