Accessing SolidWorks 2017 on your ComputerSolidWorksSolidWorks (www.solidworks.com) is a 3D solid modeling package. Components inSolidWorks can be used for creation of engineering drawings, analysis of designs for motion,stress and fluid flow (friction, drag and lift), animation and photo realistic presentation ofdesigns.The School of Engineering has purchased 1000 licenses of SolidWorks for use by any UniSAstudent for their studies. 500 licenses are available on the Mawson Lakes pool server (SolidWorks is availableon most computer pools at Mawson Lakes, plus City West (GK3-24, GK3-21, BH310, BH4-09, BH4-18, BH4-19 and all pools in Jeffrey Smart Building), City East (P334, P3-33), Magill (C1-82) and Whyalla (MB2-61, MB2-62). 500 licenses are available on a Division of ITEE server for use in ENE’s computerpool (J2-15, J2-17) and for off campus use by UniSA students (monthly licenseborrowing via VPN).SolidWorks has also provided another bonus 1000 licenses (stand alone installation expiring31 July 2018, requiring only internet/email to activate). The access codes are in 10 batches of100 licenses and these access codes will be associated with specific UniSA courses. Thecodes and installation instructions will be provided to students by their Course Coordinator.The software will be updated annually, around January to the latest Educational Version (i.e.for 2017 the version will be SolidWorks 2016).Information on SolidWorks Hardware and Software compatibility can be located quirements.htmlInformation for Students that are using Apple Mac and iOS devices can be located -x.htmlSOLIDWORKS 2017-2018 Education and Student products are targeted for use on Windows7, 8 and 10 operating systems ONLY. Method 3Installing SolidWorks on your computer – STU version for UniSAStudents OnlyIn order to gain a copy of SolidWorks 2016 for your personal computer you must:STEP 1. Obtain a copy of the SolidWorks software from either:(i) Download from the Internet1. Go to: www.solidworks.com/SEK2. Enter the SEK ID: XSEK123. Fill out the registration information and select 2017-2018 version4. Download the 64 bit version of SolidWorks, install and activate with the serialnumber detailed below. The download is approximately 2.5 GB.(ii) Download from the UniSA pool computer from the server address (this is not a webaddress and you must either follow link or paste it into the Windows Explorersearch olidworks2017 (approximately 12.8 GB).Firstly, install SolidWorks 2017 by running the installation file \sldim\sldIM.exe Thismay take 15 to 60 minutes depending upon your computer.When asked, select installation type: Individual (on this computer)When asked, insert the serial number: to be provided by your Course CoordinatorNote: letters need to be entered in lower case.4

At the end of the installation you will need to restart your computer.STEP 3. Activate a SolidWorks licenseSolidWorks Product Activation will pop up when you run SolidWorks for the first time.When asked, select: I want to activate my Solidworks product nowSelect Automatically over the internet if you have internet access.If not, select Manually via e-mail.5

Fill in your contact details.After activated, you should see the data when the license will expire e.g. 31 July 2019.STEP 3. Running SolidWorksFrom Windows: select Windows Logo All Programs SolidWorks 2016 SolidWorks 2017 (or SolidWorks 2017 x64 Edition)6
