The Vocational Scholarship aims tosupport students in pursuing a career in a vocational program beyond high school. TheVocational term serves as the umbrella for trade and technical programs. (some examples oftrade or technical programs include: Automotive, Skilled Trades {Machinery, Electrician,Plumber.etc}, Cosmetology, Police Officers, Fire Fighters, Culinary, EMT,Nursing/Pharmacy/Dental/Veterinarian Assistant) .SCHOLARSHIP FUNDSThe Maui High School Foundation’s Scholarship Program is funded from various donationsand/or activities held throughout the year. For 2022, an additional Vocational Scholarship in theamount of 500 is made possible through the support of an anonymous donor.AMOUNT OF SCHOLARSHIPSFor 2022, the following are expected to be awarded: Two 500 Vocational Scholarships.ELIGIBILITY The applicant must be a 2022 graduate of Maui High School. The applicant must complete the application and provide all required documents by thestated deadline. The applicant must be planning to attend a 2 year or vocational/technical school.SELECTION CRITERIAThe Scholarship Judges’ decision will be based on The Applicant’s high school activities, awards, honors, employment, and communityservice activities (30%); A recorded video presentation submission (50%) and; One letter of recommendation (20%).

RECORDED VIDEO PRESENTATION INSTRUCTIONSApplicants shall prepare a presentation to address the prompt for the scholarship. Each studentwho submits a completed application packet will be contacted by Maui High School Foundationto schedule a date and time to record the presentation. Applicants will receive up to 20-minutesto conduct a presentation. Applicants may conduct the presentation multiple times within theallotted time and select the best recording to submit. The presentation will be video recordedand forwarded without editing to the judges.The presentation: Must be conducted and recorded at Maui High School during a scheduled time providedby Foundation’s Scholarship Committee. Must be between 2min - 5min in length. Must include a brief introduction and address the presentation prompt. May include any medium of visual aids or props including screen share of image, audio,video, slides or any combination thereof.Vocational Scholarship Recorded Video Presentation Prompts (please address all points): What vocation are you pursuing and why? What are your interests and do they line upwith your reason to pursue that particular vocation? Explain your plans on how you will prepare or specifically where you will attend toobtain your certification or degree for that vocation. What skills and/or courses have you learned or taken at Maui High that influenced yourdecision to pursue that vocation? How will this scholarship help you to reach your goals?DEADLINEThe completed application packet (which includes application, resume, and letter ofrecommendation) must be emailed to the Maui High School Foundation [email protected] by 4:00 pm on Friday, March 11, 2022.ABSOLUTELY NO EXTENSIONS OR EXCEPTIONS WILL BE GRANTED. All decisions by theScholarship Judges are final.SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS Combine the completed application packet (which includes application, resume, andletter of recommendation) into one pdf document if possible. Name your applicationpacket LASTNAME, FIRSTNAME - “Name of Scholarship” Example : Smith, Jennifer - Vocational Scholarship (preferred) If you are not able to combine your pages into one pdf document, be sure to attach allScholarship documents into the same email and submit them all together. Eachattachment should be labeled appropriately. Example of Separate Application Files : Smith, Jennifer - Resume Email application packet to [email protected] by the deadline. Enter in the subject Line: LASTNAME, FIRSTNAME - “Name of Scholarship” Example : Smith, Jennifer - Vocational Scholarship If you do not receive a confirmation email within 72 hours of submitting yourapplication, send a follow up email to the Foundation.
