Storage Server FeaturesStorage Server FeaturesThe Oracle Exadata Storage Server X5-2 Extreme Flash is an 8-slot (expandable to 12) NVMExpress (NVMe) solid state disk (SSD) configuration designed in the Oracle Server X5-2Lform factor with no changes to the chassis, motherboard, fans, PCIe slots, or rear IO. Thisconfiguration uses up to 12 of the existing 24 slots in the disk cage. The chassis supports sixGen3 PCIe slots, two of which are x16 while the remaining four are x8. To support the 12PCIe NVM Express SSDs, four PCIe Gen3 x8 switch cards connect to each of the three NVMeSSDs.Storage Server ComponentsTABLE 1Oracle Exadata Storage Server X5-2 Extreme Flash ComponentsFeatureDescriptionProcessorTwo Intel E5-2630, 8-core, 2.4-GHz, 85W processors Four integrated DDR4 memory controllers per processor.MemoryFour 8-GB DIMMs per processor for a maximum of eight DDR4 DIMMs and amaximum of 64-GB memory.StorageA minimum of eight up to a maximum of 12 2.5-inch hot-pluggable PCIe-based NVMeSSDsNote - Oracle PCIe switch controller cards are required for controlling and managingNVMe SSDs.PCI Express (PCIe) I/OslotsSix PCIe Gen3 slots that accommodate low-profile PCIe cards:Ethernet portsFour 10GBASE-T RJ-45 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) ports on the rear panel.USB 2.0 portsTwo front, two rear, and two internal.Note - The internal USB ports are preinstalled with redundant USB drives. The primaryUSB drive contains the GRUB boot loader for the operating system; the secondary USBdrive is a mirrored image of the primary USB drive.Video (VGA) portsOne rear high-density DB-15 video port.Service processor (SP)The storage server has an integrated service processor (SP). The SP provides IPMI 2.0compliant remote management capabilities. The SP features: Slots 1, 2, 5, and 6: x8 electrical interface, contain Oracle PCIe switch controllercards. Each switch card supports three NVMe SSDs. Slots 3 and 4: x16 electrical interface. Slot 3 contains a dedicated InfiniBand (IB)QDR-CX3 PCIe host bus adapter card; slot 4 is a spare slot.
