In other words: If engine revolutions are to be reduced fast, the sluggish alternator also has to be slowed downvia the belt and then speeded up once more when the engine accelerates.This leads to irregular running, wear and tear within the entire belt drive andincreased energy consumption.And it can be done even more smoothly: For some drives an alternatordecoupler is provided.
